Steak
- 1.5 lbs Cube Steaks
- ½ cup All-Purpose Flour
- 1 tsp Salt
- ½ tsp Black Pepper
- 1 tbsp Vegetable Oil for searing
Gravy & Vegetables
- 1 Large Onion sliced
- 8 oz Baby Bella Mushrooms sliced
- 2 cups Beef Broth
- 1 packet Onion Soup Mix
- 2 tbsp Soy Sauce
- 1 tbsp Worcestershire Sauce
- 2 tbsp Cornstarch optional, for thickening
Mix flour, salt, and pepper in a shallow dish. Dredge steaks in the mixture, shaking off excess.
Sear steaks in a hot skillet with oil for 2 minutes per side until browned (optional but recommended).
Place sliced onions and mushrooms at the bottom of the slow cooker.
Lay seared steaks on top of the vegetables.
Whisk together beef broth, onion soup mix, soy sauce, and Worcestershire sauce. Pour over steaks.
Cover and cook on LOW for 6-8 hours or HIGH for 3-4 hours.
(Optional) Mix cornstarch with cold water and stir into the slow cooker. Cook on HIGH for 15-20 minutes to thicken gravy.
Serve hot over mashed potatoes or noodles.
- Thawing: Always thaw frozen cube steak in the fridge before cooking.
- Searing: Searing adds flavor but you can skip it if you are in a rush.
- Gravy: If the gravy is too thin, use the cornstarch slurry method.
- Salt: Onion soup mix is salty, so taste before adding extra salt.
