Ingredients
  

Steak

  • 1.5 lbs Cube Steaks
  • ½ cup All-Purpose Flour
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • ½ tsp Black Pepper
  • 1 tbsp Vegetable Oil for searing

Gravy & Vegetables

  • 1 Large Onion sliced
  • 8 oz Baby Bella Mushrooms sliced
  • 2 cups Beef Broth
  • 1 packet Onion Soup Mix
  • 2 tbsp Soy Sauce
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire Sauce
  • 2 tbsp Cornstarch optional, for thickening

Instructions
 

  • Mix flour, salt, and pepper in a shallow dish. Dredge steaks in the mixture, shaking off excess.
  • Sear steaks in a hot skillet with oil for 2 minutes per side until browned (optional but recommended).
  • Place sliced onions and mushrooms at the bottom of the slow cooker.
  • Lay seared steaks on top of the vegetables.
  • Whisk together beef broth, onion soup mix, soy sauce, and Worcestershire sauce. Pour over steaks.
  • Cover and cook on LOW for 6-8 hours or HIGH for 3-4 hours.
  • (Optional) Mix cornstarch with cold water and stir into the slow cooker. Cook on HIGH for 15-20 minutes to thicken gravy.
  • Serve hot over mashed potatoes or noodles.

Notes

  • Thawing: Always thaw frozen cube steak in the fridge before cooking.
  • Searing: Searing adds flavor but you can skip it if you are in a rush.
  • Gravy: If the gravy is too thin, use the cornstarch slurry method.
  • Salt: Onion soup mix is salty, so taste before adding extra salt.
